Tucked away in the heart of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, La Manual is where tradition meets you face-to-face. Fans of their jute-soled shoes — espadrilles — have included Salvador Dalí, Jack Nicholson, Tyra Banks, Penélope Cruz, Ralph Lauren, Jean Paul Gaultier, and even Pope John Paul II.

Here you can watch artisans crafting men’s and women’s espadrilles by hand — and if you want something special, take part in their hands-on workshop and create your own pair of the iconic "Pinxo" model, Dalí’s favorite.

You’ll hear great stories, sip a glass of cava with local snacks or churros con chocolate, and learn how to lace and care for your shoes.

And yes, you’ll leave with more than a pair of espadrilles — you’ll take home a story worth telling.
