Ardentia
✩-✩✩
There's something special that happens between a piece of jewelry and the person who buys it - that's what Luis González, the founder of Galician jewelry brand Ardentia, believes. Choosing a piece of jewelry is always a meaningful experience, and buying something one-of-a-kind while traveling multiplies it many times over. It becomes one of those stories you tell, right alongside the incredible cathedral or the stunning beach.
Unique pieces aren't made by chasing the market - they're made to express something personal. That's what separates a craft approach from industrial production: a big factory needs to know "what the market wants" before making anything, while a craftsman needs to say something of his own - to reinterpret what surrounds him. In Galicia, that means the sea, the Atlantic coast, the local landscape. Every piece Luis designs is steeped in the spirit of this place and carries the memory of where and how it was made.
Ardentia's silver jewelry draws on remarkable forms inspired by sea creatures from Atlantic waters, leaves of local trees, and the cultural traditions of the region. The colors are extraordinary, and they're achieved through every possible technique: hot enamel, patina, nano-ceramics, and unique electroplating. There's also the signature mirror-bright finish, which, despite what you might think, isn't the result of electroplating but of incredibly meticulous hand-polishing.
The service has its own story too: the workshop keeps the molds for every piece ever made. So if you lose one of a pair of earrings you bought twenty years ago and they've long been discontinued - no problem, they'll make you a new one.
Ardentia ships its jewelry across Spain and to 88 countries worldwide, but the brand's own stores exist only in Galicia. There are just three: in A Coruña, right in the heart of the old town; in the center of Vigo, opposite the Casa de las Artes museum; and in Santiago de Compostela. All three stock the complete collection.
And if you're walking the Camino de Santiago, no matter how tired you are - don’t miss Ardentia’s shop at your final destination! Just a few minutes from the Cathedral, this boutique offers charming, one-of-a-kind jewelry with Camino symbols - a lasting memory of your epic journey.
