Sant’Anna
✩✩-✩✩✩
In a quiet district of Lisbon, the city’s oldest ceramic factory, Sant’Anna, has been operating for nearly three centuries. Founded in 1741, it grew together with the city and, after the devastating earthquake of 1755, took part in rebuilding the capital by supplying tiled façades for new buildings. Since then, the tiles and decorative ceramics from this factory have become part of the Lisbon landscape you see today.
The factory includes a showroom where you’ll find wall panels and single tiles that could decorate your home, along with beautifully crafted decorative pieces — tableware, vases and stands, often produced in limited series.
What makes Sant’Anna special is its mastery of traditional Portuguese azulejos and decorative ceramics. Here you can find both classic collections with historical motifs and modern interpretations where shapes and colours take on a new rhythm.
If you’re in Lisbon and looking for an original souvenir or a decorative object to remember your trip by, stop by this place. Sant’Anna offers a chance to connect with the authentic history of Portuguese ceramics and take a small part of it home — to put on a shelf, hang on the wall, or make a centrepiece in your home.
