n 1955, in Gondomar, a city where the tradition of Portuguese goldsmithing has long been alive, José Martins Barbosa founded a classic jewelry workshop. No one could have imagined that this step would define the destiny of his entire family.

Years later, his daughter Rosa Amélia became one of the few women in the local jewelry industry. Her pioneering spirit further strengthened the family’s love for the art of jewelry making, and in 2017 the third generation, Joana and Alexandre, embraced this legacy and created Portugal Jewels.

Their passion for preserving Portuguese filigree traditions inspired them to rethink classic jewelry design and give it a modern tone. The Portugal Jewels collection includes traditional filigree pieces such as Heart of Viana pendants, Queen’s Earrings, and Viana Rosary necklaces, as well as baroque-style jewelry, replicas of 18th-century noble ornaments, and charming pieces inspired by Portuguese azulejo tiles.
