Cortiço & Netos

Cortiço & Netos is a family enterprise founded by Joaquim José Cortiço. From 1979 to 2013, the company collected, stored and sold discontinued ceramic tiles from Portuguese factories. Most of those factories have long since closed, but each tile preserves its own style and attention to detail.

The collection is made up of original pieces produced since the 1960s. By offering these rare gems to its clients, Cortiço & Netos helps ensure that their beauty and cultural value are not lost over time. Part of the store’s income goes toward maintaining and promoting this unique collection.

In the small Cortiço & Netos shop on Rua Maria Andrade in Lisbon, you’ll find hundreds of tiles, many of them one-of-a-kind. You can use them as colourful accents for your home walls, or turn them into coasters — for 2 euros, the team will glue a neat cork base onto the back of any tile you choose.
