The gallery of Omar Hernandez is one of those places in Oaxaca you really should not skip. Omar is known for his distinctive ceramics and artworks inspired by pre-Columbian cultures of the Americas and familiar Mexican symbols: corn, agave, mezcal.

He has been experimenting with clay since childhood, playing with form, texture, and color. His signature lies in natural materials and pigments: red cochineal, plant-based indigo, and even raw earth in different shades.

A special place in his applied work is taken by ceremonial skulls inspired by Aztec, Toltec, and Maya traditions, as well as jícaras, traditional cups used for drinking mezcal.
