Etnea

Etnea is part of Eclectic Array, a larger project that brings Mexican artisans and designers to a wider market. Today the project has nine locations across Mexico and the Caribbean, but Etnea in San Miguel de Allende sits a little apart. The selection here leans more premium, aimed at the city’s well-travelled crowd of artists, writers, and expats.

Etnea sells pieces that are genuinely one-off, often in a single size or a single example.

You will find clothing such as dresses, blouses, skirts, shirts, swimsuits, and beach cover-ups, with lots of bold textiles, embroidery, and traditional patterns in modern cuts.

There is also handmade leather footwear by Mexican makers, sometimes painted, sometimes finished with embroidery or beadwork.

Add to that bags and clutches, handmade jewellery, accessories (hats, belts, glasses cases, keyrings), home and interior pieces (cushions, throws, tablecloths, decorative skulls), and one signature Eclectic Array detail: hand-embroidered dog collars and handmade leads.

Etnea is in San Miguel’s historic centre, close to the main square Jardín Allende, next to Abrazos (Mexican textiles) and the craft gallery Mixta.
