Kane Calì

Kane Calì is a Maltese artist and experimenter, a researcher of what he calls the “plasticity of data.” He works with ceramics, glass, and 3D printing, exhibits in galleries around the world, yet continues to create here, in Malta.

His island inspired the ironic and democratic Pastizzi Project — a series of small wall sculptures and jewelry pieces shaped like Malta’s beloved flaky pastries. But it’s more than irony. In Maltese slang, pastizzi has long been a metaphor — a playful way to describe something common or easy to get. Calì’s Pastizzi Project turns that everyday expression into art, transforming a popular cultural symbol into “a sculpture for everyone.”
