Gozo Glass is a family-run workshop founded in 1990 on the island of Gozo by Michael Harris, the pioneer of Maltese glassmaking and founder of Mdina Glass, Malta’s first glass studio twenty years earlier. His apprentice, Daniel Brooke, later became master craftsman and company director. After Harris’s passing, management passed entirely to the Brooke family, who continue to run the business today.

From the very beginning, Gozo Glass has focused on exceptional quality and local craftsmanship. All pieces are handmade in the studio located within Ta’ Dbiegi Crafts Village, just a few minutes from the village of Għarb. The company never outsources or imports semi-finished products — every item is made from start to finish by local glassmakers.

Unlike larger manufacturers, Gozo Glass has never aimed for mass production. A small team of artisans hand-shape, blow, and polish each piece using traditional tools. Since 1994, the company has used only lead-free glass, and many pieces are finished with 24-carat gold or 925 sterling silver detailing.

The collection includes vases, bowls, candle holders, jewellery, decorative sculptures, and home décor items. Each design draws inspiration from the island’s surroundings — the sea and foam, rocks, sand, and sunlight. The colour palette often features turquoise, amber, and sandy tones, echoing Gozo’s coastal landscapes.

The studio is open to visitors, who can watch the glassblowing process, meet the artisans, and even choose a piece still warm from the furnace.
