Alessia Fuga
✩✩-✩✩✩
Alessia Fuga creates glass sculptures and unique jewelry using the ancient lampworking technique, known since at least the 16th century.
This technique was born here, on the Venetian island of Murano. The artisan heats a glass rod or tube in the flame of a torch until it becomes pliable, then shapes it into beads, figures, jewelry, or components for more complex pieces. The process demands precision and skill — and you can experience it yourself by joining one of Alessia Fuga’s workshops.
You can choose a short 90-minute class, or immerse yourself in a four- or eight-day course — a fantastic way to spend time in Venice, don’t you think?
In 2012, GlassLine magazine listed Alessia among the world’s Top 40 beadmakers. Visits to her studio — for a class or to shop — are by appointment only via her website or WhatsApp. The studio is open Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM.
