Tienda Quito

Tienda Quito are the city's official souvenir shops, set up by Quito's municipality specifically for visitors. The range covers ceramics, textiles with Andean patterns, silver jewellery and pieces made from traditional materials, candles, ponchos, macana bags and wallets - macana being a hand-woven fabric with traditional designs - agave-fibre bags woven by Kichwa indigenous communities, souvenirs, natural products and Ecuadorian gourmet goods. Everything is made by hand from local materials, following local craft traditions.

The flagship store sits next to the tourist information centre inside the Palacio Municipal on Plaza Grande - Quito's main square, part of the historic centre that UNESCO declared a World Heritage Site in 1978.

The second shop is in the Mariscal neighbourhood on Calle Foch, near Avenida Reina Victoria - a livelier, more contemporary part of the city with restaurants, bars and galleries. Here, just like downtown, you'll find a tourist information centre next door, plus luggage lockers and a café where you can try local coffee.
