Kopfberger

Kopfberger is a unique souvenir shop right in the heart of Salzburg. Inside a small historic space with vaulted ceilings, a fairytale has settled in: nativity scenes and figurines, carved wooden pieces, local ceramics, and many other delightful objects that spark pure, childlike joy.

Here are tiny angel heads, and nearby an entire flock of cuckoo clocks. Here are charming carved miniatures, and just next to them three-dimensional panels with dollhouse interiors.

Some of the finest woodcarvers and craftspeople from Austria, Germany, South Tyrol and the Alpine region supply their work here — ranging from elegant and restrained to naive and playful.

It’s easy to linger here. You find yourself studying details, picking things up, returning to the pieces that first caught your eye. Your attention keeps jumping from one object to another, and each time something new reveals itself.

Many of these pieces leave the shop as gifts — for loved ones or for yourself. And somehow, very naturally, they become part of your home.
